The Flower In The Desert
Be careful where you step your foot or you will slide,
But not on snow, it’s hot and sunny, quite the hike.
It’s the desert and you are taking a stroll.
Be careful because it will be quite the fall.
A refreshing breeze flows around.
You hear a quiet faint sound.
Not the sound you hear by ear,
But that you sense in a moment of fear.
It’s pretty and addicting.
A tiny piece of innocence in the middle of nowhere.
If you weren’t scared you’d fall, you wouldn’t have noticed it was there at all.
The background fades, and you come to a stop.
Realizing you just evaded a drop, but more importantly,
You realized it was there,
The tiny flower in the middle of nowhere.
I wrote this while on a hike to describe and narrate the experience. Here is another poem recitation by me but the poem is written by William Blake.
