An Exclusive Interview With Art!

Amazing is one word that can not even begin to describe her. She is the chaos underneath, and the beauty of mesmerisation is manifested within her eyes.

She is a sister, a friend, a fighter, a survivor, and she is a dreamer. She is an unheard artist.

It was a pleasure to have this interview, and I am certain there is much more to know. Art is one of the many ways a person can express themself when words do not suffice. Art is there to balance the chaos of the unheard voices from within.

I hope to have a genuine smile, a heartfelt laugh echoing and dancing like a siren enchanting. The cosmos, the purple, the stars, and all that you are.

Lead the way, and life will follow because Mariam, you are a true artist, wouldn’t you agree?

I was instructed as an assignment to conduct an interview with a person using poetry as my data collection method and autoethnography as my application and frame by Dr Sylvia Fam. So I conducted an interview with Mariam Mohamed and another person who wishes to stay anonymous. Mariam didn’t mind sharing her art, voice, and self with the world.

The interview was conducted in two parts:

The first was surprising the interviewee with a mirror and introducing themselves to themselves as a stranger who misses them and asking them a couple of questions.

The second part was to listen with them to Love After Love, a poem by Dereck Walcott, and ask them how the poem spoke to them.

In the end, I edited all the data I had and came out with a video and this lovely snippet to commemorate this experience forevermore.
