Stardew Valley’s Legacy Welcoming Pixelshire

RPG, pixel art, and farming simulation are evergrowing genres for all Stardew Valley lovers. Thus, farming games are rolling in non-stop. Roots of Pacha, Grave Seasons, and many more are some milestones in the industry. The nostalgic feeling of continuous achievement that is accompanied by serene tranquillity that manifests in the character's actions, choices, and farm is every player's undeniable drive.

On that note, Pixelshire’s 'whimsical and nostalgic visuals' are drawing near. Pixelshire is an indie game developed by Kappa Bits and published by Merge Games that has an initial release date in 2023.

Pixelshire has an essence of Animal Crossing at its core. The style choice of the pixel art is a common feature that Pixelshire shares with Stardew Valley. The charming pixel art style combines many of the cozy experiences of the gameplay features that highlight the town-building background with the sandbox reminiscent of other role-playing titles such as Animal Crossing.

It comes as no surprise that as a player of the Stardew Valley and its legacy, building a farm is the ultimate goal. Pixelshire has an addition of developing the whole town of Pixelshire while choosing from a variety of jobs to undertake and skills to master while mining and adventuring. In Stardew Valley, the town was how it is and change was only limited to the farm and the house (unless the player places chests outside all over the place to empty the overflowing inventory while venturing).

The choice of the name is worth examining. Pixelshire is designed in pixel art so the prefix is understandable. Nonetheless, the suffix '-shire' means county. In other words, a rural area with its own elected council. Moreover, the suffix meant a division of land that is governed by a government official who is known as a 'sheriff.' The name entails some background to consider.

There is no exact release date determined yet. However, as 2023 is coming to an end, Pixelshire is supposed to launch in early access soon enough. Nevertheless, Pixelshire is a solo experience. Thus, there will be no co-op or multiplayer options to expect. Therefore, it allows the player the chill experience of going at their own pace disregarding their peers, and allowing the RPG experience to manifest on a different level.

The RPG legacy of the farming industry that was sparked by Stardew Valley continues to live on. Especially since Stardew Valley in itself is still evolving with each update. Pixelshire may just be the next in line of the evergrowing farming industry.

Pixelshire is expected to be available on a variety of platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Xbox One.

The release date of Pixelshire may be drawing near, but Mirthwood is the newest farming game industry teaser. Not only does Mirthwood turn the industry into a medieval fantasy world full of enchantment and adventure, but it also allows the players the freedom to shape their destinies and who would not enjoy writing their medieval tale?
